Project Overview

The GMU MIS 491 team provided Ourobio with verification of their current environmental data, as well as environmental, social, and corporate governance metrics, for comparison against petro-plastics and bioplastics. The Client's Needs included identification of missing data points in their biological indigo production, as well as an approximation and comparison of their environmental footprint. The GMU MIS 491 Team's solution included research on the potential for reducing the environmental footprint, environmental costs, and the difference in emissions reduction potential for natural vs. conventional dyeing methods on plastics. Additionally, the team's solution involved an environmental footprint comparison between multiple plastics to identify the advantages and areas for improvement in Ourobio's product relative to its competitors.
