The GMU MIS 491 team provided the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) with a solution that can upload, quickly process/analyze data on businesses within Fairfax County, be applied to future datasets with ease, and can have staff be trained on it after the end of the project. The Client's Needs (FCEDA's market intelligence team specifically) was to help find a solution to aid in improving data processing and analysis time – especially with large datasets - so that they could better identify new or growing businesses in the area. The GMU MIS 491 Solution / Recommendation Delivery included making a Business Intelligence dashboard, using Tableau and AWS, that will allow FCEDA to work/integrate/match data in real time from publicly available data sources; as well as identifying high-growth companies through specific indicators and adding key features such as correcting incorrect street name, city name, zip codes.
