Osman Ahmed is a recent graduate from George Mason University who majored in Information Systems and Operations Management (ISOM) with a concentration in Management Information Systems (MIS) and a minor in Business Analytics. Originally born in Somalia, he moved to the United States when he was five years old and has grown up in the Northern Virginia area ever since and will be the third person in his family to graduate from GMU. He has really enjoyed the ISOM major because it has provided him a blend of both business fundamentals and information technology concepts and believes having the background in both areas will help him in his career down the line. During his free time, Osman enjoys playing Soccer and video games, watching the UFC, and following the Crypto industry.
Class Experience
"I met Professor Ngac in MIS 310 (Database Management) and coming into this course I had no experience in coding with Microsoft SQL Server. However, the way Professor Ngac teaches course concepts through his engaging lectures and the examples he provides to further understand the material has really helped me succeed in his courses. After successfully completing MIS 310, I knew I wanted to enroll in more courses that Professor Ngac taught which is why I also took MIS 330 and MIS 462 with him. In no way are his courses an “easy A” and will require the student to put in more effort than some other courses, but you will come out of the course knowing you have learned something beneficial from him. His credentials speak for themselves, but the industry experience he brings and shares with his students is really valuable. In addition, I have taken courses with Professor Ngac in person and online after the Covid Pandemic, and no matter what format the course is taught he provides all the necessary resources for his students to be successful and is always willing to provide feedback and point students in the right direction for an assignment. After three courses with him, I can truly say he is one of the best professors the ISOM department at GMU has."

Upon Graduation
During Osman's time at GMU, he interned with Northrop Grumman as a Business Management Intern where he mostly supported the Space Sector facing Business Management Manager with data analytics needs. In addition, he also supported a Principal Budget Analyst in maintaining a data file that displayed the Space Sectors monthly consumption of IT resources and helped create data visualizations to better understand the data and project the future months' consumption. Upon Graduation, Osman will be joining KPMG as a Federal Advisory Business Analyst in their Digital Lighthouse Practice which is their AI and Analytics center.
Future Goals
Osman hopes to transition to a Data Analytics or Data Engineer role eventually, and hopefully plan to return to George Mason to pursue a Masters in either Data Analytics Engineering or Information Security. However, hi biggest goal/dream is to one day work his way up to be Chief Information Officer (CIO) or Chief Operating Officer (COO) of a company.
