Summary

Noah Mecikalski was born in 2000 in Madison, Wisconsin, but he moved to Huntsville, Alabama in 2003 where he has lived for most his life. He found a passion of math and science early on in life, which has carried over in his decision to major in Industrial and Systems Engineering at Auburn University. He is currently a junior and has been involved in marching and concert band at Auburn throughout his time there. He accepted a position as a systems engineer intern for the Summer of 2020 at Parsons Corporation.

Noah's Internship
"This summer, my main tasking involved analyzing and developing solutions within the onboarding processes within Parsons. I was able to consolidate many of the tasks into a few easy steps that easily flowed from one another. This is the central idea behind Industrial and Systems Engineering, and it’s a process I want to continue with through the rest of my career.

I met Brian a few weeks into my internship as I was assigned to learn some deeper functions within Parsons' SharePoint Platfrom. I quickly realized I enjoyed working within SharePoint, so I contacted Brian to receive some further tasking. Throughout the next few weeks, I spent time developing new capabilities within SharePoint with the help and guidance of Brian. If I found myself with extra time, he would give me a few more capabilities to research that weren’t quite as straightforward as my main tasking. This was the simultaneously most fun and most frustrating part of my internship, as researching tasks often go. Developing these capabilities were difficult yet very rewarding once implemented.

Those kinds of researching and problem-solving skills will serve me well throughout my career, and I’m thankful to have an opportunity to broaden my skillset. Brian has always been quick to help or offer advice, though I could tell he quickly developed trust in me and my work which was greatly appreciated."

Before Graduation

Noah will stay on with Parsons after his summer internship. He will work on a few different projects part-time while he finishes up his schooling.

Future Goals

Noah's “dream job” would most likely lie at the intersection of systems engineering, data science, and the transportation industry. He has always loved analyzing the systems behind transportation, and would like to be part of designing and improving these systems. To pursue this, he will first focus on finishing his degree while adding a minor in Statistics. He has also been in talks with the Connected Communities Market within Parsons, which focuses on improving the transportation network. This seems like a perfect market for him, and he is excited to see what opportunities will come his way within it.
